WARWICK
THE GAMM THEATRE
ABOUT
The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (known as The Gamm) is Rhode Island's leading progressive theater dedicated to producing contemporary and classical plays in an intimate black box setting. Located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick, the venue is distinguished by its commitment to presenting intellectually rigorous theater that challenges audiences with new works and reimagined classics. The intimate setting—with no more than 8 rows separating the back row from the stage—creates a unique connection between performers and audience members.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The GAMM operates as a professional theater company presenting full-scale productions in a flexible black box performance space seating approximately 185-300 patrons depending on configuration. Shows range from contemporary American plays to Shakespeare and international classics. Expect ample free parking, a spacious lobby for mingling during intermissions, and a concession stand. The intimate proximity to performers creates an unusually engaging experience.
HISTORY
The GAMM was founded in October 1984 as "Alias Stage" by seven members of the Trinity Rep Conservatory's graduating class, making it Rhode Island's longest-running professional theater company. In 1998, the theater was renamed The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre following a $100,000 donation from philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein in memory of his sister Sandra. Now in its 40th season, The GAMM continues to commission new works and produce world and regional premieres.
