MISHNOCK BARN

Mishnock Barn is Rhode Island's premier country western dance venue, a family-owned bar operating five to six nights weekly under Dan and Kelly Albro. The barn welcomes dancers of all skill levels in a judgment-free atmosphere where the venue hosts as many as 300 dancers on its three floating dance floors spanning nearly 3,000 square feet of hardwood. Beginner lessons are available Monday through Wednesday nights led by Dan and his son Addison.

Expect a lively dance environment split across three independent sound zones where multiple simultaneous lessons accommodate different skill levels from beginner to advanced. The atmosphere is deliberately inclusive—as one instructor notes, "There are no wrong steps on this floor, just variations."

The barn's roots trace back to 1929 when Dan's grandfather built a summer entertainment pavilion on the property. The actual barn structure was built in 1940, and the original frame with its affixed wagon wheels still stands today. In 1971, Dan's parents began hosting Saturday night dances featuring the Hayloft Jamboree band. Dan pivoted to country dancing in 1992, explaining "Eventually I got tired of babysitting drunks"—he hasn't had problems since.
