WAKEFIELD
PUMP HOUSE MUSIC WORKS
ABOUT
Pump House Music Works is a nonprofit organization located in the historic Peace Dale Pump House, a stone building constructed in the 1880s that originally pumped water into Wakefield from Rocky Brook Reservoir. The venue is dedicated to cultivating culture and creativity in arts and music by providing affordable event space where all musical genres are welcome. It's an inclusive community hub where both beginners and experienced musicians collaborate, hosting everything from full-band concerts to open mic nights and jam sessions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The venue operates with a robust weekly schedule, hosting open ukulele jam on Mondays, open jam sessions on Tuesdays, and scheduled shows Wednesday through Sunday. Events range from intimate acoustic performances to full-band concerts, with ticket prices typically $15-25. Wood-fired pizza is available on-site, along with a full bar. The 1880s stone building creates an intimate, vintage vibe.
HISTORY
The Pump House Music Works was founded by Dan Collins and Ariel Rose Bodman on November 26, 2016. Collins and Bodman, who are accomplished luthiers behind Shady Lea Guitar Company, brought their vision to a building that had housed various restaurants. The original Pump House structure was constructed in the 1880s and served as a water-pumping facility for Wakefield, drawn from Rocky Brook Reservoir, giving the venue its distinctive industrial-meets-historic character.
