ABOUT

Sandywoods Center for the Arts is an intimate community venue housed within Sandywoods Farm, a 174-acre arts and agricultural community that uniquely combines affordable housing, sustainable living, and cultural programming. Located at 43 Muse Way, Tiverton, the center functions as a performing arts and gathering space for both the resident artist community and visitors. With a capacity of 150 with chairs and tables (or 250 auditorium-style), it's an appropriately-sized space for intimate performances and community gatherings.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The venue hosts a diverse array of musical genres through its Grange Hall performance space, regularly featuring alt-rock, jazz, funk, reggae, Spanish guitar, and experimental music. Regular programming includes Tuesday evening open mic nights. The venue encourages BYOB and bringing picnic suppers, making it suitable for extended social gatherings in a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere.

HISTORY

Sandywoods Farm was founded in 2004 when Joe Bossom, a retired neuroscientist with an arts degree from NYU, partnered with his wife Mika Seeger (a renowned ceramic artist and daughter of folk singer Pete Seeger) to transform their 174-acre property into an intentional arts community. Today, Sandywoods is home to 206 residents including painters, writers, potters, quilters, jewelry makers, glass artists, and musicians.
