BLOCK ISLAND
MAHOGANY SHOALS
ABOUT
Mahogany Shoals is a waterfront bar at the historic Payne's Dock marina complex on Block Island's Great Salt Pond. The venue captures the laid-back island spirit with three distinct bar areas, including a second-floor bar offering an unobstructed harbor view that is "second to none." The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, catering to boaters, locals, and visitors watching the docks and sunsets with the marina's 100 boat slips providing an authentic maritime backdrop.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The venue features live music every night during summer season, spanning reggae, rock, and acoustic acts. Food is available through LobsterCraft Dockside Restaurant, and the bar serves frozen drinks alongside beer and wine. Note: cash only with on-site ATM.
HISTORY
Payne's Dock was established in 1945 by Frank C. Payne Sr. and has remained family-owned for nearly 80 years as Block Island's last independent dock/marina. The venue hosts special summer music festivals including Country Fest, Reggae Fest, and Roots and Rhythm Fest running full-day events with multiple performers.
