ABOUT
Catamount Arts is a community arts center at 115 Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, serving as the cultural hub of the Northeast Kingdom. The facility features two movie theaters, an 80-seat performance space, two classrooms, and a gallery showcasing local and regional artists. It is the only full-service arts center in northeastern Vermont, drawing approximately 40,000 visitors annually.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming includes foreign, independent, and classic film screenings; live music concerts; dance and theater performances; summer camps; and arts education for children and adults. Catamount also operates a Regional Box Office serving over 40 organizations and produces events including the Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series and First Night North, Vermont's only family-friendly New Year's Eve performing arts festival.
HISTORY
Catamount Arts was founded in 1975 as a traveling film presenter with a mission of enhancing the cultural climate of northern Vermont and New Hampshire. Over nearly 50 years, the organization has grown from its humble beginnings into a major regional arts institution. The Community Arts Center building features a Colonial Revival style and serves as both a presenting venue and a community gathering space.
