ABOUT
The Champlain Valley Exposition is a 130-acre fairgrounds and event complex in Essex Junction, Vermont, featuring 81,000 sq. ft. of combined exhibit space, a grandstand seating over 3,000, and the Midway Lawn outdoor concert area. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the state's largest events venue by capacity.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Expo hosts over 100 special events annually, including the 10-day Champlain Valley Fair attracting more than 120,000 attendees. Programming ranges from grandstand concerts and festivals to consumer trade shows, sporting events, and agricultural exhibitions. The grounds include full RV hookups for 600 campers and banquet facilities for 2,000.
HISTORY
The Champlain Valley Exposition was founded in 1922 and held its first fair that September with over 15,000 attendees. The original 1923 grandstand held 4,000 people; the current grandstand was rebuilt in 1966 and relocated further back on the property. Higher Ground presents summer concerts on the Midway Lawn stage.
