BURLINGTON
CLUB METRONOME (UPSTAIRS AT NECTAR'S)
ABOUT
Club Metronome is the upstairs venue above Nectar's at 188 Main Street in downtown Burlington, with a capacity of 250. The second-floor room operated as a separate music and dance club with its own identity, programming, and entrance. It has since been rebranded as The Lounge at Nectar's.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The club hosted DJs and bands nightly until 2 a.m., with programming spanning rock, electronic, hip-hop, and indie. The upstairs room featured a dance floor and a more high-energy atmosphere than the ground-floor Nectar's lounge. Notable acts that played the Metronome include the Killers, Ani DiFranco, the Wailers, and Blind Melon.
HISTORY
Club Metronome was opened in 1992 by Anne Rothwell and Lou Natale. The planned April Fool's Day opening was canceled by City Hall over building permits, delaying the debut. The space later transitioned to The Lounge at Nectar's, a mostly free-entry club with ticketed shows for larger acts. The venue's status is tied to Nectar's 2025 closure.
