ABOUT
Higher Ground is a live music venue in South Burlington, Vermont, operating two rooms under one roof: the Ballroom (capacity ~900) and the Showcase Lounge (capacity ~250). Located on Williston Road in a converted former movie theater, it is the state's primary mid-size concert venue.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Higher Ground books a wide range of national and regional touring acts spanning rock, indie, electronic, jam, folk, hip-hop, and comedy. The Ballroom features a standing-room general admission floor with a full bar, while the Showcase Lounge offers a more intimate listening room experience. The venue also hosts family-friendly morning events and weekly trivia nights.
HISTORY
Higher Ground was founded in 1998 by Alex Crothers and originally operated in Winooski until closing in 2004. It reopened at its current South Burlington location in a former Merrill's Showcase Cinemas building. The venue consistently ranks among Pollstar's top 50 clubs in the nation and has hosted acts including The Black Crowes, My Morning Jacket, Phish side projects, and Margo Price.
