ABOUT
Northern Stage is a LORT-D professional theater company operating out of the Barrette Center for the Arts at 74 Gates Street in White River Junction, Vermont. The 240-seat theater features unobstructed sightlines with no seat farther than 38 feet from the stage. The facility spans 17,000 gross square feet.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Northern Stage produces a full season of professional theater including premieres, musicals, and classic plays, reaching over 30,000 people annually. The company is known for its New Works Now program developing new plays, and its commitment to intimate, high-quality productions in a thrust/arena configuration.
HISTORY
Northern Stage was founded in 1997 by Brooke Ciardelli. For over 15 years, performances took place at the historic Briggs Opera House. Under Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne (appointed 2013), the company raised funds for the purpose-built Barrette Center for the Arts, which opened in October 2015.
