PICKLE BARREL NIGHTCLUB
ABOUT
The Pickle Barrel Nightclub is a multi-level entertainment complex at 1741 Killington Road in Killington, with a capacity of approximately 500. The venue features 4 bars, 3 levels, and 2 stages and is Killington's largest nightclub. It operates as a 21+ venue and is centrally located on the Killington Road ski corridor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming focuses on live rock, hip-hop, and touring national acts, with the venue doubling as a high-energy dance club during ski season. *Ski Magazine* called it a "Living Legend" and *Snow Country Magazine* ranked it among the Top 5 Favorite Bars in North America. Notable acts have included Snoop Dogg, Warren Zevon, the Wailers, the Roots, Wu-Tang, Blues Traveler, and Gin Blossoms.
HISTORY
The building began in the 1960s as the Sugar Shack, a rustic dance hall serving the young Killington Ski Area. It later operated as the Showcase East, a bar and movie house. Local entrepreneur Jack Giguere acquired the building in 1971 and renamed it the Pickle Barrel. In 1999, longtime manager Chris Karr purchased the club and oversaw a restoration that added state-of-the-art audio and lighting.
