BURLINGTON
RADIO BEAN
ABOUT
Radio Bean is a coffeehouse, bar, and live music venue at 8 North Winooski Avenue in Burlington. The venue has a capacity of approximately 85 and operates as one of Burlington's smallest and most prolific music rooms. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 6 p.m. to close, and Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., with the venue going 21+ at 9 p.m.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Radio Bean hosts multiple live performances daily across every genre, functioning as a community clubhouse for local musicians. The tiny stage has launched careers and served as a nightly gathering point for Burlington's creative community. The venue is part of a connected complex with sister venues Light Club Lamp Shop and the restaurant Duino! (Duende), all under the same ownership.
HISTORY
Lee Anderson opened Radio Bean on November 4, 2000, at age 22, after dropping out of UVM when the space below his apartment became available. The name came from Anderson's original concept, which included a low-power FM community radio station. Anderson started the business on credit cards, financing approximately $30,000 in equipment. The venue has faced financial challenges since the COVID-19 pandemic.
