PROVIDENCE
DEADBEATS
ABOUT
Deadbeats is a welcoming neighborhood dive bar on Providence's West End that champions a come-as-you-are ethos with inexpensive drinks and genuine community vibes. Located at 289 Knight Street, this horror-themed bar features a quirky aesthetic—think a fiberglass Ronald McDonald statue, vintage horror art, and pinball machines (including Tales from the Crypt and Nightmare on Elm Street). Owners Jeff Angell and Courtney Tallarico designed the space as a comfortable refuge where locals and visitors can relax and enjoy local and mainstream beers.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Deadbeats operates as a neighborhood gathering spot with themed events and live entertainment—particularly elaborate Halloween celebrations are planned annual fixtures. The atmosphere features a horror-themed dive bar with vintage pinball machines, digital jukebox, and quirky decorations. Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm–midnight, Fri 4pm–1am, Sat 3pm–1am, Sun 3pm–midnight.
HISTORY
Deadbeats opened in April 2023 in the long-vacant former E&O Tap space, rising from years of decay to become a restored community cornerstone. The previous E&O Tap had sat decrepit and graffitied for several years until Angell and Tallarico committed to renovation. The original E&O Tap inspired the founding of Providence Daily Dose (a local blog) in 2007.
