DUSK

Dusk was a beloved underground music venue and creative sanctuary located at 301 Harris Avenue in Providence's Olneyville neighborhood. The venue operated for over 14 years, earning legendary status as an institution within Providence's punk, metal, and underground music communities. The space featured dim lighting, vintage aesthetics, a small stage positioned close to the audience, a horseshoe-shaped bar under a chandelier, leather couches, candlelit tables, and velvet curtains.

Dusk offered intimate live music experiences where patrons could stand within arm's length of performing musicians. The venue hosted shows spanning punk, metal, hip hop, folk, funk, and beyond. The venue's final show was a heavy metal rager featuring thrash and black metal bands, reflecting the strong connection to those communities.

Dusk opened in August 2010, founded by Rick Sunderland and Patrick Butler. Sunderland brought three decades of experience as a Providence public school teacher and extensive nightclub background. The venue hosted Summer Fest, Burlesque n' Roll, and countless legendary shows. Dusk closed January 26, 2024, after the building's owner sold the property.
