ABOUT

The Royal Bobcat is a 1920s New Orleans-themed speakeasy bar located on Providence's Atwells Avenue in the Federal Hill neighborhood. This intimate venue features a whimsical Alice in Wonderland meets vintage speakeasy aesthetic with plush velvet upholstery and feline-themed artwork, creating a distinctive atmosphere that transports guests to the Jazz Age. The bar combines exceptional mixology with food from in-house partner Hanju Kitchen serving Korean-Cajun fusion cuisine.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Performances feature some of the highest quality jazz music available in the country, with shows Tuesdays-Thursdays at 7:30 PM and Saturdays at 8 PM. Bands like Paper Moon Jazz Band and Buttonwood Brass perform regularly. Expect handcrafted cocktails including classic New Orleans specialties like Hurricanes and Sazeracs, plus Southern-style and Korean-Cajun fusion plates.

HISTORY

The Royal Bobcat opened in March 2020 on Atwells Avenue, created by owners Ellie Coyne and Dan Becker as a modern homage to the Roaring Twenties. The bar's name references a bobcat transported to New Orleans in 1905, a famed figure who visited local apothecaries, bars, and historic establishments, adding literary and historical intrigue to the venue's identity.
