WESTON
WESTON THEATER COMPANY
ABOUT
Weston Theater Company operates two venues in Weston, Vermont: The Playhouse, a 306-seat Greek Revival building, and Walker Farm, a modern flexible space seating up to 140. The Playhouse is owned by the Weston Community Association and rented by the theater company during the summer season.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The company produces a professional summer season of musicals, plays, and new works. The Playhouse hosts large-scale productions while Walker Farm (opened 2017) serves as a second stage and creative development space. Programming emphasizes both classic works and world premieres.
HISTORY
Weston Theater Company traces its origins to the Great Depression, when neighbors put on plays during long winters. Director Harlan Grant launched the theater's first professional season in the summer of 1937. A fire destroyed the original Greek Revival building in 1962; the replacement was damaged by flooding in 1971 and again during Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. The company rebranded from Weston Playhouse Theatre Company to Weston Theater Company in 2022. The Playhouse was severely flooded on July 10, 2023 and remains closed as of early 2026; the company continues to operate at the Walker Farm second stage.
