STORRS

Storrs is a village within the town of Mansfield in eastern Connecticut, defined almost entirely by the University of Connecticut's main campus. The Storrs brothers donated the land and $6,000 in 1881 to found what became UConn.

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts seats over 2,600 and is the largest college-based presenting program in New England, booking 25 to 30 artists and ensembles each season across classical, contemporary, comedy, and dance. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (UConn) stages professional plays and musicals in the 485-seat Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre and the Nafe Katter Theatre on campus.

Downtown Storrs, built in the mid-2000s adjacent to campus, mixes student-facing restaurants and shops with over 70 businesses. The surrounding Mansfield landscape — Eagleville, Four Corners, Mansfield Center — stays rural, with working farms and hiking trails minutes from the performance halls.

Tip: Jorgensen and Connecticut Repertory Theatre run on academic-year schedules — summer programming is limited, so check the UConn arts calendar before planning a trip between May and August.
