WHAT TO EXPECT
The theater screens first-run and independent films with showings on Friday through Sunday and Tuesday, closing Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. It serves as New Milford's primary movie house, drawing audiences from the surrounding Litchfield Hills and Danbury region.
HISTORY
The building's history dates to 1920 when it opened as the Star Theatre on the site of the old Green Hotel, one of the few structures to survive the devastating fire of 1902. It was renamed the Bank Street Theatre in 1976 by owner Steven Barry, expanded to three screens in 1997, and has operated continuously for over a century.
