ABOUT

Hartford Stage is a leading regional theater located at 50 Church Street in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. The theater occupies the 489-seat John W. Huntington Theatre, designed by renowned architect Robert Venturi, and is known for producing innovative revivals of classics and provocative new plays and musicals.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Hartford Stage produces a full season of plays, musicals, and new works, supplemented by education programs and community engagement. The theater offers group sales with a 20% discount for parties of 10 or more. Convenient parking is available at the adjacent MAT Garage for $7.

HISTORY

Founded in 1963 by Jacques Cartier in a former grocery store warehouse on Kinsley Street, the theater opened with *Othello* on April 1, 1964. In 1968, under Paul Weidner, it moved to its current Venturi-designed home. Hartford Stage has produced 68 world and American premieres and is recognized as one of the nation's leading resident theaters.
