DANBURY
IVES CONCERT PARK
ABOUT
Ives Concert Park is a 5,500-capacity outdoor amphitheater situated on 40 wooded acres on the Westside campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. The park features gardens, a pond, and public hiking trails surrounding the performance area. Named for Danbury native and composer Charles Edward Ives (1874-1954), the venue is the area's primary outdoor concert facility.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The park hosts a seasonal summer schedule of concerts, festivals, and community events, drawing more than 65,000 guests annually. Programming spans rock, pop, country, and tribute acts, with a mix of national touring artists and regional favorites. The outdoor lawn setting allows for blanket and chair seating. The venue operates primarily during warm-weather months.
HISTORY
Established in 1974 to honor one of America's most influential classical composers, the park has deep roots in the Danbury community. In 2007, Mayor Mark Boughton created The Charles Ives Authority for the Performing Arts to maintain the founders' vision and oversee operations. The park has hosted decades of outdoor entertainment on the university campus.
