ABOUT
The John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts is a multi-use performing arts facility at Southern Connecticut State University, located at 501 Crescent Street in New Haven, Connecticut. The center features a 1,500-seat mainstage auditorium with a distinctive three-quarter thrust stage design, plus a black box theater on the first floor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The center hosts university theatrical productions, concerts, dance performances, and visiting professional artists throughout the academic year. The facility includes a lobby art gallery and the black box theater can be configured in multiple seating arrangements. Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 11am to 5pm.
HISTORY
Named after philanthropist John Lyman, the center was established in 1968 on the Southern Connecticut State University campus. The mainstage auditorium and experimental theater spaces serve both the university's performing arts programs and the greater New Haven community.
