PALACE THEATRE (STAMFORD)
ABOUT
The Palace Theatre is a 1,580-seat performing arts venue located at 61 Atlantic Street in Stamford, Connecticut. The theater is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through year-round arts education workshops. The venue hosts Broadway touring productions, concerts, comedy, dance, and family programming. This is a different venue from the Palace Theater in Waterbury (VEN-054).
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Palace Theatre presents touring Broadway shows, national comedy and music acts, orchestra performances, and arts education programming. Recent headliners include Trevor Noah, and the venue hosts Orchestra Lumos, international ballet companies, and Live Nation concert bookings. The theater also offers youth education workshops focused on creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
HISTORY
The Palace Theatre was originally designed by Thomas W. Lamb as a vaudeville house and opened in 1927. It was later converted to a movie theater for nearly 50 years before being restored and reopened for live performance in 1983. A major renovation in 2003 added a new facade, marquee, two-story lobby with grand staircase, improved wheelchair accessibility, meeting rooms, and a new box office. The theater continues to serve as a cornerstone cultural institution in downtown Stamford.
