ABOUT
Space Ballroom is a 300-capacity all-ages independent music venue and craft beer bar at 295 Treadwell Street in Hamden, just minutes outside downtown New Haven. The venue features two bars, an outdoor patio, and a main performance room. Space Ballroom also operates The Cellar on Treadwell, a separate 21+ room in the same building for smaller, more intimate shows.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming is heavily indie, punk, metal, alternative, and experimental, with a busy calendar of national touring acts and Connecticut-based local artists most nights of the week. All shows in the main room are all ages, making it one of the few venues in the region accessible to younger audiences. The Cellar on Treadwell adds a secondary programming stream for 21+ shows. DJ dance nights and comedy are also part of the mix.
HISTORY
Formerly known as The Outer Space, the venue reopened in 2018 as Space Ballroom under owner Steve Rodgers, who repositioned the space to fill a gap in the greater New Haven live music scene. The venue quickly established itself as one of Connecticut's most active independent music rooms, with a packed calendar and a reputation for diverse, quality bookings.
