DANBURY
THE PALACE DANBURY
ABOUT
The Palace Danbury is a 400-seat performing arts center located at 165 Main Street in downtown Danbury, Connecticut. The historic theater serves as Danbury's primary entertainment venue, hosting music, theater, comedy, film, and private events in a restored early 20th-century auditorium.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Palace presents a diverse schedule of live music, comedy shows, theatrical productions, and film screenings. The venue is available for private event rentals and offers a newsletter for early access to upcoming shows. Programming spans genres from rock and tribute acts to community theater and family entertainment.
HISTORY
Designed by architect Philip Sunderland, the theater opened on September 6, 1928 as a vaudeville house, originally seating 2,000 people. The opening was described as a venue of great beauty in the *Danbury Evening News*. The Palace is the only one of Danbury's three original theaters still functioning as an entertainment venue downtown, now operating at a reduced 400-seat capacity after renovation.
