HARTFORD
THE WEBSTER UNDERGROUND
ABOUT
The Webster Underground is a smaller performance space attached to The Webster (formerly Webster Theater) at 31 Webster Street in Hartford. While the main Webster room holds approximately 1,200, the Underground serves as a secondary stage for more intimate club-sized shows. The space shares the same building and infrastructure as the main venue.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Underground hosts its own independent programming of smaller touring acts and local bands, separate from the main stage calendar. It also sometimes functions as a second stage during larger Webster events. The intimate room provides a club-level concert experience in contrast to the main theater's larger format. Genres span rock, metal, punk, indie, and electronic.
HISTORY
The Webster complex occupies a historic Art Deco building that originally opened as a movie house in Hartford. The main room and the Underground together form one of Hartford's most important live music complexes, hosting touring concerts and events across two distinct room sizes. The Underground gives emerging and mid-level acts a dedicated space within the Webster ecosystem.
