HISTORY
The Warner Theatre opened on August 19, 1931 as part of the Warner Bros. chain of movie theaters. In the 1960s, Warner Brothers sold the theater to a private owner who continued showing movies until the late 1970s. By the early 1980s, the theater was closed and slated for demolition when a group of local citizens formed the Northwest Connecticut Association for the Arts and launched a grassroots campaign to save it. The association purchased the theater and reopened it on May 22, 1983 as a performing arts center.
