OGUNQUIT
Ogunquit is a seaside village in southern Maine with a storied arts and theater tradition dating back over a century. The Ogunquit Playhouse, now in its 93rd season, produces Broadway-caliber musicals each summer and is one of the most respected regional theaters in the country.
The Ogunquit Playhouse on Main Street is the headline draw, presenting professional musicals from May through November. Jonathan's restaurant features live music performances year-round. The Leavitt Theatre adds film screenings to the mix. Vinegar Hill Music Theatre in nearby Arundel provides an additional live music option within easy driving distance.
Ogunquit's arts community has roots in the painter Charles Woodbury's art colony at Perkins Cove. The village retains that creative heritage with galleries along Shore Road and Marginal Way. Audiences here tend to be appreciative and willing to spend on quality productions.
Tip: Walk the Marginal Way from downtown to Perkins Cove to see the full range of the village. The Playhouse is on Main Street and parking fills early on show nights.
