FREEPORT
CADENZA
ABOUT
Cadenza is an intimate listening room and live performance venue at 5 Depot Street in downtown Freeport, Maine, two blocks from L.L. Bean. The space seats 50 to 60 comfortably and was built by completely renovating a former abandoned performance venue. It features a well-maintained Yamaha C-7 grand piano, professional sound and lighting, and a dance floor. Free covered parking is available across the street.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming focuses on jazz, blues, folk, Broadway, tribute shows, and Great American Songbook material. Cadenza operates as a dedicated listening room where audience attentiveness to performers is encouraged. Most shows run on Fridays and Saturdays, with food available from a partnership with Brickyard Hollow restaurant.
HISTORY
Cadenza was created by principal owners Alan and Sue Mooney starting in 2018, with the venue opening in spring 2019. It closed briefly from March to June 2020 during the pandemic and was among the first Maine venues to reopen. The venue produces approximately 90 shows annually for more than 3,000 attendees.
