The Gracie Theatre is a 490-seat proscenium theater on the campus of Husson University at 1 College Circle in Bangor, Maine. The facility includes 335 orchestra seats and 165 balcony seats, a fly system with 26 counter-weighted line sets, an orchestra pit, rehearsal hall, scene design and construction area, sound and light booths, three dressing rooms, and a 50-seat Black Box Theatre.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Gracie functions as both a presenting theater and a community cultural center for the Greater Bangor area. Programming includes touring musical acts, comedy, theater, and classical performances. The venue also serves as a learning platform for students from the New England School of Communications studying digital audio, live sound, sound mixing, set design, lighting, and electronics.
HISTORY
The Gracie Theatre opened in 2009 and is named for Grace McCollum, the granddaughter of longtime Husson trustee Hilda Hutchins McCollum. It was designed by WBRC Architects/Engineers and has operated as a key performing arts venue for the Bangor region since its opening.
