SUN TIKI STUDIOS
ABOUT
FLAG: NO LONGER HOSTS LIVE SHOWS. Sun Tiki Studios is a recording and rehearsal facility at 375 Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine. The venue hosted its final concert in September 2024 due to rising costs, particularly liquor liability insurance. It continues to offer hourly rehearsal spaces and recording services.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When operational as a live venue, Sun Tiki hosted local, regional, national, and international acts. The studio offers fully-equipped practice spaces with PA systems, 5-piece drum kits, bass and guitar amps, and vocal mics. Recording sessions start at $300. The stage has been preserved for possible future one-off performances.
HISTORY
Sun Tiki Studios opened in spring 2018, founded by owner Ian Smith. The name comes from the Sun Tiki Tanning parlor that previously occupied the space. During its run as a live venue, Sun Tiki hosted nearly 600 shows and served as a vital part of Portland's music scene.
