HISTORY
The Colisee was built from 1956 to 1958, originally constructed by the Catholic parish of SS. Peter and Paul as the Central Maine Youth Center. It gained national fame when the Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston heavyweight championship rematch was held there on May 25, 1965. *Sports Illustrated* photographer Neil Leifer captured what the magazine called one of the greatest sports photos of the century at that fight. Bruce Springsteen performed there in 1977, and Bob Dylan played three times between 2000 and 2013. The venue has undergone over $5 million in renovations since 2005.
