ARUNDEL
VINEGAR HILL MUSIC THEATRE
ABOUT
Vinegar Hill Music Theatre is a late-1800s barn converted into a live music venue located off I-95 in Arundel, Maine. The space seats approximately 250 and features exposed wooden beams, a rustic garden bar, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting. It hosts a mix of local, regional, and national touring acts in a setting that retains its agricultural heritage.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Audiences can expect a broad range of genres from folk and Americana to rock, blues, and comedy. The barn's intimate layout puts every seat close to the stage, and the outdoor garden bar area adds to the social atmosphere. Most shows run Thursday through Saturday evenings.
HISTORY
The property was originally built by William E. Smith in the late 1800s and operated as the Arundel Barn Playhouse from 1998 under Adrienne Grant's direction. In 2015, the playhouse was sold to Tim Harrington and Debbie Lennon, who renamed it Vinegar Hill Music Theatre and reopened it in May 2016 with upgraded sound, lighting, and a garden bar. After closing during the pandemic, it was purchased by Peter and Emily Haranas in 2021. Past performers include Graham Nash, Cowboy Junkies, Suzanne Vega, and The Wailers.
