HISTORY
The Waldo was designed by New York City architect Benjamin Schlanger and opened on December 9, 1936 with a screening of "Pennies from Heaven" at 35 cents a ticket. It was considered one of the best-designed small theaters in the country at the time. The theater closed in 2014 and underwent a major renovation beginning in 2019, reopening in June 2021 as a community arts center after decades of intermittent closure.
