NORTHAMPTON
IRON HORSE MUSIC HALL
ABOUT
Iron Horse Music Hall is a live music venue at 20 Center Street in downtown Northampton, Massachusetts. Following recent renovations by the Parlor Room Collective, capacity is approximately 300 people. The venue is one of the Pioneer Valley's anchor music destinations and a cornerstone of Northampton's arts scene.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming covers a wide range of genres including folk, rock, jazz, blues, Americana, and singer-songwriter performances. The room is configured for an intimate, close-to-the-stage listening experience. The venue books both national touring acts and regional artists.
HISTORY
The Iron Horse Coffeehouse opened on February 24, 1979, founded by Jordi Herold and business partner John Riley with a capacity of roughly 60-85 seats. Expansions over the following decade brought capacity to 170 and a new name: the Iron Horse Music Hall. Between 1979 and 2004, more than 8,500 shows were presented. In September 2023, The Parlor Room, Inc., a nonprofit operator, announced the acquisition of the Iron Horse and undertook renovations to reopen it with expanded capacity.
