Cross Insurance Center is a 5,800-seat multi-purpose arena in Bangor, Maine, with concert capacity of up to 8,500. It features an attached 2,000-person convention center and is part of the city's Bass Park complex, located across from Hollywood Casino Bangor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The arena hosts concerts, family shows, touring Broadway productions, comedy acts, sporting events, and conventions. It serves as a home court for University of Maine Black Bears basketball. The attached convention center and ballroom spaces allow for a range of event configurations.
HISTORY
The Cross Insurance Center opened on September 10, 2013, replacing the former Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center. It was built at a cost of $65 million and designed by Sink Combs Dethlefs and WBRC Architects Engineers. Bangor voters approved construction by a 3-to-1 margin in a May 2011 referendum. Cross Insurance purchased the naming rights in 2012 for $3 million.
