LONGMEADOW
Longmeadow is a residential town on the Connecticut River directly south of Springfield. Settled in 1644 and incorporated in 1783, its long Town Green is a National Register historic district lined with 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Over 30 percent of the town is permanent open space, including the Fannie Stebbins Memorial Wildlife Refuge along the riverbank.
The Meeting House operated as a gastropub on Williams Street that booked live music alongside craft cocktails and upscale pub fare. Springfield's MGM complex and Theodore's blues club are minutes north for a fuller entertainment calendar.
You'll find Longmeadow quiet and tree-lined, a suburb that defers to Springfield for nightlife. Community events like the Long Meddowe Fall Festival bring seasonal live music to the Town Green.
Tip: Springfield's downtown venue cluster is a five-minute drive north. East Longmeadow's Villa Napoletana also books live acts nearby.
