SPRINGFIELD
52 SUMNER
ABOUT
52 Sumner is a performing arts venue at 52 Sumner Avenue in Springfield's Forest Park neighborhood, operated by Springfield Performing Arts Ventures, Inc. The space is set inside a converted church building designed in 1894 by architect William Van Alen, who later gained fame for designing the Chrysler Building in New York City.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect live music featuring both original acts and tribute bands, theater productions, classical concerts, and community events in a renovated church hall with strong acoustics and a state-of-the-art sound system. The venue is the home for MOSSO: Springfield Chamber Players, a collective of professional musicians dedicated to live classical music in Springfield.
HISTORY
The building served as Faith United Church until 2023, when Springfield Performing Arts Ventures purchased it and developed a performance space. The nonprofit's mission is to provide affordable access to the arts in Springfield's urban community, breaking down barriers to creative expression and cultural enrichment.
