BOSTON
BOCH CENTER SHUBERT THEATRE
ABOUT
The Boch Center Shubert Theatre is a 1,600-seat performing arts venue in Boston's Theatre District, managed alongside the Wang Theatre as part of the Boch Center. The theater hosts touring Broadway productions, concerts, dance performances, and comedy shows.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect an intimate proscenium theater experience in a classic early-20th-century house with strong acoustics and good sightlines from every seat. The programming leans toward Broadway touring companies, musical theater, and mid-sized concert productions.
HISTORY
The Shubert Theatre opened on January 24, 1910 with a production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Originally conceived as The Lyric Theatre, it was taken over by The Shubert Organization in 1908. A $3 million renovation in 1996 added a new stage, expanded orchestra pit, and updated accessibility features. The center was renamed the Boch Center in 2016.
