BOCH CENTER WANG THEATRE
ABOUT
The Boch Center Wang Theatre is a 3,500-seat performing arts venue at 270 Tremont Street in Boston's Theatre District, featuring one of the five largest stages in the United States. It is managed as part of the Boch Center alongside the Shubert Theatre.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect a grand, palatial theater experience in a lavishly restored space originally designed as a movie palace. The Wang hosts major touring Broadway productions, large-scale concerts, ballet, and special events in a setting that feels monumental.
HISTORY
The theater opened on October 25, 1925 as the Metropolitan Theatre with a capacity of 4,400, the largest in Boston at the time. It was renamed the Wang Center for the Performing Arts after An and Lorraine Wang funded renovations in 1983, and underwent a major restoration between 1989 and 1992. The center was renamed the Boch Center in 2016.
