NATICK
CENTER FOR ARTS IN NATICK (TCAN)
ABOUT
The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) is a nonprofit performing arts center at 14 Summer Street in Natick, Massachusetts, housed in the town's former Central Fire Station built in 1875. The main performance space occupies approximately 3,000 square feet with seating for 270 to 350 patrons depending on configuration. The venue presents concerts, movies, community theater, and family programs.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming covers a broad range including live music across multiple genres, independent film screenings, community theater productions, and children's performances. The intimate setting provides close sightlines to the stage. TCAN also serves as a rental space for community events and private functions.
HISTORY
The Central Fire Station was originally constructed in 1875 and underwent a $2.5 million restoration that included installation of a steel beam to support the 4,000-square-foot main performance space. TCAN opened as a performing arts center in May 2003, representing a significant adaptive reuse of the historic structure for arts programming in the MetroWest region.
