IRISH HOUSE / TRINITY PUB
ABOUT
The Irish House Restaurant and Trinity Pub is the dining and entertainment venue of the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England at 429 Morgan Road in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The pub features a handcrafted bar with custom woodwork, bar and table seating, a fireplace and snug, and an outdoor patio. The center is open to the public and dedicated to sharing Irish culture through arts, language, heritage, and community events.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect traditional Irish music sessions every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM led by Ellen Redman and guest hosts, along with live music most weekends. The pub serves light fare, dinner, and drinks in a cozy atmosphere. The broader Irish Cultural Center hosts concerts by internationally touring Irish and Irish-American musicians.
HISTORY
The Irish Cultural Center was founded in 1999 at Elms College in Chicopee following a 1997 screening of a documentary about Blasket Island emigrants. The center was spearheaded by Elms President Kathleen Keating, professor Thomas Moriarty, and Sean Cahillane. The organization moved to its current West Springfield location at 429 Morgan Road in 2017, occupying a former Elks Lodge. The Trinity Pub is named for three volunteers who built it: Will Carey, Bev Browne, and Dan McGrath.
