JEAN MCDONOUGH ARTS CENTER

ABOUT

The Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC) is a multi-venue arts and culture hub at 20 Franklin Street in Worcester, Massachusetts' Theatre District. The center is comprised of the 300-seat BrickBox Theater with an elevated riser and the Worcester PopUp, a rotating creative space. The JMAC is fully managed and programmed by The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The BrickBox Theater hosts chamber music, concerts, comedy, theatre, and community events. In 2024 alone, 88 different organizations and individual creatives used JMAC spaces over 400 times. The Worcester PopUp serves as a pipeline for identifying emerging creatives and connecting them with city resources.

HISTORY

The PopUp opened in 2016 as an incubator for local arts. The ongoing stability of the JMAC is supported by the McDonough Family Foundation and the Barr Foundation. The center has become a central node in Worcester's growing Theatre District arts ecosystem.
