LYNN AUDITORIUM
ABOUT
Lynn Memorial Auditorium is a 2,000+ seat performance venue housed within the Lynn Memorial City Hall in downtown Lynn, Massachusetts. The Art Deco building serves three functions: city government offices, a war memorial, and a public performance space. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The auditorium presents concerts, comedy, theater, dance, and community events. The hall has hosted performers spanning decades of American entertainment, from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong to Johnny Cash and contemporary touring acts. The venue's downtown location provides direct access to Lynn's commercial district.
HISTORY
The Lynn Memorial City Hall and Auditorium was constructed in 1948-49 by the M.A. Dyer Company and John Bowen Company, designed by architect Harry M. Ramsay in the Art Deco style. Mayor Albert Cole was the driving force behind the building's design and construction. The building was conceived as a combined civic center and memorial to Lynn's fallen veterans, and was renovated in 2005-2007.
