BOSTON
PARADISE ROCK CLUB
ABOUT
Paradise Rock Club is a 933-capacity live music venue at 967 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Allston neighborhood, near Boston University. It is one of the most storied rock clubs in New England, operating as a standing-room general admission room with a small balcony.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Expect a sweaty, up-close club experience where the stage is at floor level and the crowd presses tight. The room books indie rock, alternative, punk, folk, electronic, and emerging acts, and it has long served as a proving ground for bands on the rise.
HISTORY
The Paradise opened on September 22, 1977 as the Paradise Theater, with Livingston Taylor headlining the first show. The venue has hosted early U.S. performances by U2 (December 1980), Phish (January 1989), and dozens of other acts before they reached arena scale. A 2010 renovation moved the stage and increased capacity from 850 to 933.
