THE ROCKWELL
ABOUT
The Rockwell is an intimate underground performance venue at 255 Elm Street in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts. The space accommodates up to 200 people and hosts over 300 performances annually. The venue has been voted Best Comedy Club in Boston in 2024 and 2025 and nominated for Best Music Venue.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming spans comedy, music, burlesque, theatre, children's shows, and private events. The underground space controls all its own light sources, making it suitable for events at any time of day. The venue books both national headliners and local acts across multiple genres.
HISTORY
The space was originally established in 1987 as The Boston Baked Theatre and later operated as Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway. In 2010, Ken Kelly acquired the building and reopened it as the Davis Square Theatre in 2012. In 2016, it was renamed The Rockwell in honor of Kelly, a Somerville business leader and restaurateur.
