PLYMOUTH
THE SPIRE CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS
ABOUT
The Spire Center for Performing Arts is a nonprofit venue at 25 1/2 Court Street in downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts. The 225-seat performance hall features custom lighting and sound systems with original period architectural details, housed in a 3-story building that also contains classrooms, a recording studio, and rehearsal spaces. The venue anchors the arts and cultural district in America's Hometown.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Programming spans concerts across multiple genres, comedy, theatrical performances, and community events. The intimate hall provides close sightlines and superior acoustics. The lower level is dedicated to performing arts education, theater troupes, a recording studio, and community activities, making the Spire both a performance venue and arts education center.
HISTORY
The Greater Plymouth Performing Arts Center, Inc. was founded in 2010 to create a performing arts center for the region. The organization discovered the dormant Congregation Beth Jacob community center, formerly a Methodist church built in 1886. In October 2012, Plymouth Town Meeting voted to appropriate $650,000 in Community Preservation Funds to acquire and renovate the building. The Spire Center opened following the restoration of the historic structure.
