UNION TAVERN

Union Tavern is a bar and live music venue at 345 Somerville Avenue in Union Square, Somerville, Massachusetts. The laid-back, cash-only neighborhood joint offers beers on tap and a steady lineup of shows. The venue hosts concerts, DJ nights, and other events.

Programming leans toward indie rock but spans a wide range of genres. The venue operates Tuesday through Sunday with shows most nights. The intimate room puts audiences close to the stage.

The space originally operated as the Portuguese American Lounge (P.A.'s Lounge), a Portuguese seafood restaurant. In the early 2000s, it shifted focus to live music and became one of Somerville's underground rock destinations. The venue was rebranded as Union Tavern in 2019. Over the years, the stage has hosted acts including Arcade Fire, The Lumineers, Thurston Moore, and Jay Reatard.
