WHAT TO EXPECT
Xfinity Center hosts approximately 80 concerts per season, making it one of the busiest amphitheaters in New England. Programming spans major touring rock, pop, country, hip-hop, and EDM acts. Billboard named it the top-grossing amphitheater of the decade in 2010. The venue is currently undergoing its largest renovation in nearly 40 years of operation.
HISTORY
The amphitheater opened on June 13, 1986 as Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts with a performance by Yo-Yo Ma and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, initially seating 12,000. Naming rights were sold to Tweeter Home Entertainment in 1999 (Tweeter Center), then to Comcast in 2008 (Comcast Center), and rebranded to Xfinity Center in 2014. The venue was expanded after 2000 to its current 19,900 capacity.
