NEWMARKET
Newmarket is a small former mill town on the Lamprey River in Rockingham County with an outsized reputation in New Hampshire music history, thanks to one of the state's most storied venues.
The Stone Church Music Club occupies a converted 1832 church building and has hosted acts ranging from Phish to Bonnie Raitt since it opened as a music venue in 1970. It remains a cornerstone of the Seacoast music circuit, programming rock, folk, jam bands, and open mics with a full kitchen and bar. The Rockingham Ballroom adds a second venue option with event and performance space.
The Stone Church has a devoted following built over five decades. The converted church interior gives shows an atmosphere you will not find in a standard club, and the booking mixes established touring acts with regional talent. Newmarket's downtown is quiet and small, which makes the venue itself the destination.
Tip: The Stone Church is on Granite Street in the downtown area. Check the calendar and buy tickets early for popular acts, as the room fills up.
