GREAT BARRINGTON
Great Barrington is a southern Berkshires town with a walkable downtown that supports a performing arts center, a historic music venue, and an independent cinema.
Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center is a restored 1904 theater that programs live music, film, dance, and spoken word year-round. Guthrie Center — housed in the church made famous by Arlo Guthrie — hosts folk and roots concerts and community events. Triplex Cinema provides independent and first-run film.
Great Barrington attracts a mix of Berkshires residents and weekenders from New York and Boston. The Mahaiwe's programming is sophisticated, while the Guthrie Center carries folk music history in its walls.
Tip: Railroad Street and Main Street form the walkable downtown core. The Mahaiwe, Triplex, restaurants, and shops are all within a few blocks.
